Library Loot October 7, 2019

Library Loot is a weekly event co-hosted by Claire from The Captive Reader and Sharlene from Real Life Reading that encourages bloggers to share the books they’ve checked out from the library.

I went to the library over the weekend. Two months in a row of actually having physical books? I’m as surprised as you are! I was all excited and ready to have another picture taking adventure like last time. I was, that is, until I actually had the books in my hands. While the two young adult books I got are gorgeous and look absolutely pristine, my venture to the children’s section has left quite the sticky impression. The two illustrated editions of Harry Potter books that I was able to get my hands on (Sorcerer’s Stone has been removed from circulation for the time being – presumably lost or in desperate need of repairs) are, to put it gently, some of the most well-loved books I’ve ever seen.

The Chamber of Secrets is taped together in several places, which honestly isn’t surprising at all. This book has been traveling and seen a lot of sights! But it would appear it’s also eaten a fair amount and had a drink or two. Some of the pages are covered in a mysterious sort of 3-dimensional crust. There are crumbs sandwiched between pages here and there. Assorted colors of drink stains. On one page even there is a lovely little hand print. And every so often there are pages that have to be pried apart because the pages are so sticky. Like syrup sticky. I’m not going to go on about how these are absolute crimes because they’re probably kids who in all likelihood don’t really know better and it is indeed an illustrated book for a younger audience. I’m glad kids are reading! I will, however, say that I’ve never had a closer relationship with my hand sanitizer and my festive fall soaps seem to be rapidly depleting.

The Percy Jackson books appear to much cleaner but there is sort of crunchy layer on the outside of one. I haven’t looked inside yet. Schrodinger’s library books?

This all being said, I will not be taking pictures of the physical books themselves this week. For some reason. Look at these pictures from the internet instead! Oooooh! Ahhhhh!

The Grief Keeper by Alexandra Villasante

Kingdom of Souls by Rena Barron

Had a good library run lately? Ever encountered some really loved library finds before? I wanna know!

  1. The Grief Keeper is one I want to read so bad! The cover! The Synopsis! It’s all too incredible!

Soooo, remember that time forever ago that I went to the library for the first time in ages and did a whole post on the millions of books I checked out? I ended up reading like *maybe* two of them….
